St. George’s University welcomes students from any education system around the world. The flexibility in placement at St. George's University allows students to enter into year 1, year 2 or year 3 of the preclinical program based on academic qualifications and backgrounds as well as allowing them to start their studies in Grenada or The UK.
Upon completion of the preclinical program, students are enrolled in a 4-year MD program where they can choose to study the first year of the program in UK or Grenada. During year 3 and year 4 of the program, students will have a chance to do clinical rotations in USA or UK at any of 70+ partner hospitals and health centers.

The Four-Year MD Program at SGU offers international students a rigorous and rewarding medical education. The program is renowned worldwide and provides flexibility in study locations, allowing students to begin their education in Grenada or the UK.
The program is structured into two main phases: the basic sciences phase and the clinical training phase. During the basic sciences phase, students acquire a solid foundation in medical fundamentals, including anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. This phase is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge required for advanced medical practice.
In the clinical training phase, students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through rotations in a variety of medical settings. These rotations take place at over 75 affiliated hospitals and health systems in the US and UK, providing students with diverse and valuable clinical exposure.
SGU is committed to ensuring its graduates secure placements in competitive residency programs. The school has a strong track record of achieving residency placement rates that exceed the national average. No other medical school in the world provides more new doctors to the US healthcare system. Over 940 US residencies in 2024.*

The partnership between SGU and Northumbria University offers a Four-Year MD Program and Five- and Six- Year MD Tracks. The program and tracks begin in Newcastle, UK, allowing you to complete the first part of your education at Northumbria University, further enriching.
Students in the Five-Year MD Track will spend one year in Preclinical Sciences (Preclinical Year 3) and one year in Basic Sciences (Medical Year 1), followed by two years of Clinical Rotations in the US or UK. Students in the Four-Year MD Program can begin their studies in Grenada or the UK and complete two years of Clinical Rotations at over 75 affiliated hospitals and health systems in the US or UK.
Important Note: Clinical Rotations in the UK are not permitted during the final six months of the program.
